Winnie-the-Pooh

I actually read this for the first time recently, and though I don't have a child's perspective I thought it was delightful all the same.

Pooh is a silly old bear, and a loyal friend. Piglet is nervous and cute. Owl is wise and (somewhat) literate. And Eeyore, poor Eeyore just needs some friends to give him positive affirmations.

Rabbit is a bit cross but still lovable. And Kanga and Baby Roo are a fun new addition to The Hundred Acre Wood.

While the book is lighthearted, there are some important themes explored. Kanga and Baby Roo are met with suspicion when they first move in, but everyone finally learns how to welcome their new neighbors.

Something very touching is how Eeyore is loved by his friends despite his low self esteem and depressed outlook on life. They find ways to include him and make him feel loved.

This is a book about friendship and community, and it'll make readers of all ages feel a little less lonely.

Tigger doesn't make an appearance here, but I'm guessing he'll be in the next book. And who knows? They may finally catch sight of a real Heffalump!
