Jefferson’s Sons

As far as Juvenile Historical Fiction is concerned, this novel is truly extraordinary. The attention to detail and care taken with these figures is not only dynamic but intuitive, lining up beautifully with the life path that these historical figures followed. I had a difficult time putting it down, the story is so engaging and as it develops you are drawn deeper into the complexities of their lives. I have absolutely gained a new perspective of not just our founding father but of the people around him who helped shape his ideas. It also shined a bright light on the possible thought process of Sally Hemings, it allows her to be seen as more than a victim of circumstance, which I feel is important. Sally had a quiet power, the way it is depicted in this novel is simply incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!!!
