Caraval

"Caraval" is the first book of three written by Stephanie Garber. If you need to get away and visit a magical land, this is a must read. Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over. With the help of a rogue sailor, Tella takes Scarlett away to Caraval. The show lasts for five incredible days. Tella is kidnapped as part of the show and a prize is given to the person who finds her. Scarlett is told this is a game/performance, but it becomes very real to her in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. Go on this great adventure and hopefully find Tella before she disappears.
